HDR on Alpha

I found no answer in the Owner's manual or on the internet to the following question:

when taking photos in the HDR-mode with my A-37, the camera records 2 images, 1 with D-R off (so-to-say a "normal" picture) and 1 HDR-picture ( the picture I actually want). Is this normal and a "must", or can I change it in the set-up, so that the camera takes only the HDR picture. Meaning, that I get only a HDR-picture when I want one and not bundled with another "normal" picture.

I use also a Canon G12 and there I get what I want, when set to HDR simply 1 HDR picture.

Cleaning the mirror on A77V

The mirror on my A77 has what appears to be a small spot of grease on it. This appears on photos where it is on an area of bright sky as an out of focus grey spot. Can anyone suggest how to clean the mirror without damaging it? The only cleaning instructions in the manual refer to cleaning the sensor.

How do i change the A57 to record in 50p rather than 60p. I am rumnning v1.4 of the camera software.

It is set in Aperture mode, but I can't focus and none of the buttons will respond. I have tried taking the battery out, putting in a fully charged battery and also tried a 'soft reset'. But there is no change.

Is anyone else having this problem? I'm not sure what I can do. I had a Sony a300 prior to this camera and had no problem yet u cannot get a clear shot out of this camera even using my prime lens. Maybe it's just me, I can't really see how I can be doing that much wrong though. Even using auto on a tripod the images are soft and blurry

I have a nex 5 and recently I have had blodges on the pictures I take. Initially I thought it was the lenses but those have all been cleaned and I still get them.

How do I go about cleaning the sensor? do I have to send it off to a sony centre?

i have a sony alpha a-77 i have the startard lens for the camera but in june i am going to see the british super bikes at would like to get some fantastic close up shots ive been looking through alot and seemily the 400mm lens is the best for its price but would like a little more help if thats possible never done anything like this so yeah haha kind regards liam

A450 Malfunction

Every now and then the buttons on the back of my A450 stop working, I bouight the camera off ebay as an ex demo camera. The battery in the camera is a cheap battery and not a proper Sony one, could this be the fault.

I need an App similar to the free Remote Trigger App that already exists but I need the NEX 6 to automatically trigger the camera on a Change of Scene. e.g. camera is looking at a bird table, bird flies on to table, camera automatically triggerrs. Is such a thing available? If not and Sony are looking at this. This would be a fantastic update to the current App. ( or even a new chargeable App.I know of several wildlife photographers who would buy the camera just to have a function like this.

Im wanting to do off camera high speed sync from a distance so wanted to know if I can splice a TTL Flash Cable FA-CC1AM and add in some cat5 cable and still retain the HSS ttl functionality. Id be using an A77 and hvl f58 or f60.

sony image RAW convertor display area

I am taking photos on a Sony Nex-C3 at the 16:9 display setting, but when i load them into RAW Image Data Convertor it crops the top and bottom inch from the display area (shadows the area). Ticking the box display 3:2 in display control shows the whole image, but i want this as standard for all images i work with. How do i save the display settings?

SLT-A99V: why did Sony forbid focus magnify in video mode?

I think other users realized here how difficult is to manual focus with such shallow depth of field of a FF in video mode, even with focus peaking. The crazy thing is that if I swtich to any of the stills mode, I can use focus magnify and do it perfectly. Then for some unexplainable reason that amazing function is unavailable in video mode. Don't you think Sony should allow that operation in upcoming firmware upgrades? The way it is now is nothing short of a big big pity.

NEX 5N and infrared photography

I have two NEX 5N and one NEX 5R and I would like to remove the UV, IR and Anti Aliasing filters from the sensor on one of the NEX 5N. The cameras were purchased new 3-4 month ago, but I'm not that worried about invalidating the Sony warranty ...

I don't seem to be able to contact Sony UK to get the answers, hence, does anyone on this forum knows where this work could be done? How long would it take and what would be the cost. The NEX 5N is a nice camera, but as it is, it is a bit limiting and amateurish.

For most of the time, I'm using both NEX 5N cameras in Manual / Aperture priority mode with my old manual Nikon lenses, of which I have many. The NEX 5R, I use with the 2 kit lenses, hoping to purchase SEL18200 soon to expand on that camera capabilities.

Removing the filters from NEX 5N sensor would allow me to produce better Raw images, shoot some decent infrared images ... and perhaps get more fun out of photography. Perhaps as much fun as I used to get way back in sixties, when I bought my first Nikon camera.

NEX VG20 recording problem

Sorry for asking this probably obvious question, but I have recorded some footage on my VG20 and when viewing the files back it has split footage into 10 minute blocks instead of the full 30/40 mins they were intended to be, thus losing a few seconds either side of the split, any help with this problem would be much appreciated

Disappointing sharing options on Nex5R

Got my 5R today, and exploring the features. I got the apps downloaded, but the sharing app is really disappointing.

Supporting only Play Memories (which didn't work for me, constantly telling me that it "Can't connect to PlayMemories ONline", despite having a perfectly good Wifi connection on the camera and a registered account). I don't have, nor do I want a Facebook account.

Surely Picasa/Google+ support is pretty much required these days no? No FlickR either??

Looking at the apps, they don't seem to be that actively developed. Have I bought into a dead ecosystem with the NEX line? I really hope not... It seems like the app format is closed with only Sony making apps if they can be bothered.

For some time I have been using Picture motion browser and other software on the installation disc for my A200 on my old winXP computer. I've now tried to install it on a new windows 8 computer but it will not accept the disc.

Is there any updated software and where/how can I get it?

Remote firing of NEX6 bracketed shots

Is there any way at all to shoot a set of bracketed shots using either an IR remote or self-timer or Playmemories mobile?

There appears not to be, and this is a huge oversight, there appears no way to be able to take a set of bracketed shots without a high risk of introducing camera shake, because you have to hold the shutter relase for the whole set of exposures.

I even bought the Bracket Pro app, but even this won't let you fire off the shots remotely either.

Please Sony fix this in either firmware (preferable) or within the Bracket Pro App (pretty easily, I would imagine, just add a option for a 2 or 10 second delay after pressing the shutter to allow the camera to settle)

Also is there any way of introducing some more functionality into the Play Memories mobile apps on smartphones? I would happily pay for an app with much more remote control features, comprehensive bracketing and intervalometer functions.

The NEX6 is a great camera and it's a real shame it is being let down by badly implemented software and firmware.

well I was after a SAL70400G and it turned out it was discontinued for the G2, so I waited as it said on the Sony site "available from the start of April" at the start of April this changed to "out of stock"...no chance to order? and no where has one in stock (some sites claim to but if you call them they don't). so any idea when I will be able to order this? really want it for the British F1 GP at the end of June.

Just bought myself one, and now slightly concerned about what may or may not be in the box when it arrives.

On the Sony website, clicking "What's In the Box?" says: SEL-1855

Really?? No battery? No Charger? No Flash??? No USB cable??? No CDROM?

Can someone confirm what I will be getting? I still have time to cancel before shipping. In particular I am concerned it doesn't come with the flash, as looking at the prices, that will bump the price up even further...

I just bought my Nex 6 and am generally very pleased. However, the viewfinder brightness is not good for composing scenes outdoors (indoors is fine). I have experimented with various LCD and viewfinder brightness settings and best I can get still is a poor comparison to optical viewfinders. Am I just expecting too much?

Ive taken a few direct sunlight pictures of the sunrise this morning (no-filter & 18-55 lens) and only afterwards have thought if it would do any damage to the camera looking directly at the sun?

A few other questions are...

When viewing images the camera has mechanical movement inside like its trying to focus? is that ok?

Trying to shood macro close ups with the 18-55; the camera struggles to focus in af (pictures of grass/or object on the table) just wouldnt focus at all, is this normal or should I seek advice whilst still under warranty?

Just bought the Sony NEX-5R I have 2 questions :

1. Is there any way of getting a better sound when filming people talking, any mike that could be used?

2. What is the best record setting to use? I have tried the 50i 17M but the camera doesn't focus quickly enough when moving. And I tried the 25p 17M, a bit better for the focusing but both, when imported in Adobe première. give a trembling light effect...

Extended warranty SLT A77

I am on the point of puchasing a SLT A77 with grip etc to use with Minolta lenses and have tried without success to enquire about extended warranty costs and availability. The Sony site is not helpful and refers to serVIPlus about which I can find nothing useful. I would be grateful for some guidance please.
