The MAP-S1 supports High-Resolution Audio formats such as DSD, FLAC, WAV and ALAC, as well as formats like MP3, Apple AAC, ATRAC and Windows WMA – restoring their quality closer to that of the original.

How High-Resolution Audio works

High-Resolution Audio converts analogue sound to digital at a higher, more precise rate than CDs. High-Resolution Audio can have a rate of 24bit/96Hz, capturing more details and subtleties, resulting in music that is as real as it gets.

The Digital Sound Enhancement Engine HX (DSEE HX) upscales your compressed digital music files (MP3, ACC, ATRAC and WMA) and takes it closer to the quality of High-Resolution Audio. By restoring the high-range sound lost in the compression process, DSEE HX produces your digital music files in rich, natural sound, closer to the quality of the original recording.

Traditional amps require multiple digital to analogue conversions – each affecting quality. Sony’s S-Master amp is 100% digital for more power without distortion, improving efficiency and reducing size. Enhanced for High-Resolution Audio, the S-Master HX digital amplifier reduces noise levels for the precision needed with high frequency ranges (above 40kHz).
