Il Sony FE 16mm f/1.8 G è una di quelle lenti che sembrano nate pensando ai paesaggisti e agli amanti della fotografia notturna. È compatto, leggero e incredibilmente pratico: poter montare filtri a vite su un 16mm così luminoso è un vantaggio enorme. La qualità d'immagine è il suo punto forte. A f/1.8 è già molto nitido al centro, con bordi sorprendentemente buoni per un grandangolo così spinto; chiudendo a f/2.8–4 diventa davvero incisivo su tutto il fotogramma. Il coma è ben controllato, e questo lo rende una scelta molto valida per la Via Lattea o per chi fa stacking notturno. La vignettatura a tutta apertura c'è, ma è regolare e facilmente gestibile. La distorsione a barilotto è l'unico vero compromesso: senza profili correttivi è evidente, ma con le correzioni automatiche diventa un non-problema. L'autofocus è rapido e preciso, e la costruzione, pur essendo della serie G e non GM, dà una sensazione di solidità. In sintesi, è un obiettivo che unisce qualità ottica, praticità e prestazioni in un formato sorprendentemente compatto. Per chi fa paesaggio, viaggi o astrofotografia, è una lente che può diventare rapidamente un punto fermo nello zaino.

This is a gem of a lens. It's really small, and really sharp. Autofocus is faultless. I bought it to downsize from the 16-35GM, as I realised I use that lens almost always at 16mm. I'm looking forward to using the 16 f1.8G for wide field astro photograpy as soon as the cloudy skies clear.
