A great starter lens

I keep this lens mounted on the camera as an everyday carry-on and am pretty satisfied with its behavior. Of course, you have to keep in mind the kind of lens you are using, when you evaluate it. This lens is a reliable performer, a little bit softer than expected (which I appreciate in my photographic style), and very quiet, so you can use it for videos. The colors of the images this lens produces, just out of the camera, are pleasantly on the warmer side, and this pairs very well with the Sony sensors, in my opinion. The construction of the lens is really good - you will find a metal focus and zoom rings with a metal casing. The result is pleasant both to touch and use. The autofocus is extremely fast and precise, at least on NEX and alpha 6xxx series. The best aperture for most shots is between f/5.6 and f8, at any focal length. You will notice some visible distortion if you are not using the autocorrection tool (i.e. if you look at Raw files). So, I would recommend this lens to every beginner or amateur photographer looking for a starter lens to experiment with.

Als ich mir die Sony Alpha NEX-5 vor vielen Jahren zulegte, war das Objektiv als Kit-Linse inbegriffen. Mit dieser habe ich sozusagen die digitale Fotografie erlernt. Mittlerweile vollführe ich die Rolle rückwärts und habe mir die NEX-5R mit dieser Linse gebraucht gekauft und bin sehr zufrieden über das geringe Gewicht dieser Kombination. Hatte erst Bedenken aufgrund der Berichte im Netz wegen chromatischen Aberrationen, jedoch traten diese nach Bearbeitung meiner RAW-Dateien nicht in Erscheinung. Dass das OSS mit an Bord ist, ist ein großes Plus. Die Farbe ist Geschmackssache, aber Silber kann angenehm aus dem schwarzen Einheitsbrei der Objektive herausragen. Klare Empfehlung auch für semi-professionelle Fotografen.

Seit etwa sechs Wochen fotografiere ich ausgiebig mit einer Sony a6000 an der ich hauptsächlich manuelle Objektive nutze. Um das Optimum an Lerneffekt herauszuholen, kam ich dabei in die Situation auch mal ein originales Objektiv von Sony zu montieren. Nach reichlicher Recherche im Web entschied ich mich für das E18-55. Wobei meine Erwartungshaltung durch meine Erfahrungen nich all zu hoch war. Damit lag ich, für mich betrachtet, auch richtig. Die äußerliche Verarbeitung ist sehr gut, auch was die elektronische Komponenten angeht. Fokussiert ist schnell genug und vor allem geht das auch sehr leise von statten. Was das Gesamtbild trübt, ist die Bildqualität an sich. Im Vergleich zu einigen anderen Objektiven, die ich hier zur Verfügung habe, ist diese bei gleicher Brennweite und Blende für mich zweite Klasse. Nicht mal so sehr die Farbdarstellung und Kontraste, aber ganz gewiss die Schärfe. Ein anderer Kritikpunkt betrifft das Innenleben. Das sich im Laufe der Zeit Staub in Zoom Objektiven schneller ansammelt als in Festbrennweiten ist kein Geheimnis und beim 18-55 ist das nicht anders. Oft liest man in Angeboten, dass dies keine Auswirkung auf die Bildqualität haben soll, doch dem muss ich widersprechen (siehe angeführtes Bild). Bei der Postproduktion der Bilder sehe ich das am ehesten, wenn die Belichtung und Kontraste entsprechend angepasst werden. Spätestens dann muss ich zu Reparaturwerkzeugen greifen, um die Flecken loszuwerden. Im Endergebnis aber, kann ich das Objektiv dennoch empfehlen. Es ist günstig in der Anschaffung, gut für den Einstieg und auch für den schellen Schuss geeignet. Für mich persönlich ist es aber kein Immerdrauf.

Compacte, idéal pour photos de voyage. Le Sony A5100 avec cet objectif se transporte presque dans le creux de la main ;-), en tout cas facilement dans un petit sac à main ou même les poches d'un anorak. La qualité des images est époustouflante, j'ai fait plusieurs tirages de photos de paysages et d'architecture en format poster (110 x 75 cm) - la netteté est impeccable.

Ho comprato il sel 1855 per poi comprare il sel1650. Tra i due obiettivi la differenza qualitativa è veramente minima ma, a parità di qualità dell'immagine il sel1650 è molto più compatto e quindi meno ingombrante. Avrei preferito, da parte della sony, uno zoom molto più performante e non un doppione in termini qualitativi.

Das Sel E18-55 ist beim kauf meiner Sony Kamera dabei gewesen. Ich war von Anfang an begeistert von den Bildern. Im Nahbereich bis ca. 3m ist das Objektiv klasse. Acheté il y a 2 ans, je n'ai aucun reproche majeur à formuler. Utilisé avec des capteurs sensibles (16 à 24 mégapixels..) les limites d'ouvertures sont "compensées", les images sont fines et d'un piqué agréable.

Ho comprato un kit Nex 5N con il 18/55. Ottima accoppiata e buone funzionalità sia per la maccina sia per l'obiettivo. Anche se con una apertura di diaframma non luminosissima, l'obiettivo si comporta molto bene in qualsiasi situazione. Un ottimo tuttofare.
