Had them almost a year now, connect easily to both Sony Walkman and Samsung tablet; wire free on a sunbed is great!

Sony - AS700BT Bluetooth Headphones

MDR-AS700BT 17/06/2015 by Robbie C

I bought these a few weeks ago to use with my Sony Xperia mobile phone because they are Bluetooth headphones that can connect to my mobile using NFC (Near Field Connectivity). Once paired with the mobile phone in the usual way all you then need to do each time you want to connect the mobile to the head phones is to tap the two together where the NFC symbol is and they connect, tap them together again and they disconnect. This process also starts and stops the Bluetooth function on the phone if it was set to off, and leaves the Bluetooth set to on if it was already on. This works perfectly every time and is a real advantage over the old connecting process when you are out and about on the train or running. If you haven't tried this sort of sports headphone design before you will find that they offer a lot more freedom over the usual wired headphones or ear plugs. These give a detailed and rich sound with the fully orchestrated music that I usually listen to. Some other reports I have read say that the base is pronounced with these but with my type of music I think the treble is also just as clear and so the overall effect is a more full sound, but I can see that if you were playing music that only had strong base and not a full range then the base content might sound stronger with these. With the music I listen to I do not find this a problem. I can also confirm that they work without any problem with my Sony Smart Watch connected to the mobile phone and I can use the Smart Watch music app controls to change the album, volume, next song etc, etc., as well as using the controls that are on the right headphone. They do have some sound cancelling effect but not as much as the excellent ear plugs that came with my Sony Xperia phone or the even better ones that came with my Sony Walkman, but these are designed for outdoor sports use so I think it's probably a good idea that you can still hear traffic and car horns etc when using these, although on the train they seemed to me to offer a good level of sound cancelling effect. The only downside I have found with these is that you can only charge them up using a computer USB socket as they are 3.9 volts not 5 volts so I have assumed that they need the computer driver that is downloaded the first time you plug them into your computer to charge them to get this unusual low charge voltage, and you shouldn't use the sort of USB charger that plugs into the mains as this gives a 5 volt charge! If I am wrong about this perhaps someone will clarify this but I think charging a 3.9 volt battery with a 5 volt charger would not be recommended and that is the only reason I have given this 4 stars instead of 5 stars because having to turn on the laptop or PC at the end of every day to recharge them is not ideal, but if that's not a bother to you then I would recommend them.
