Bought this when my old Sony HT-CT60BT of 11 years packed in. At 5 times the wattage and 11 years of development since, I was expecting a significantly improved experience. However the new system is far inferior. The sound is dull and muffled, no better than my inbuilt tv speakers. The only time it comes alive is watching an action film and the sub woofer kicks in. My old system was far superior in clarity and connectivity - this new model does not even have an aux input so I can't plug in my turntable like I used to. Extremely disappointed.

Regarding the sound issue, please try the steps below and test again:
1. Disconnect the cables that are connected between the TV and the speaker system, then connect them firmly again.
2. Disconnect the AC power cords of the TV and the speaker system from the AC outlets (mains), then connect them again after 1 minute.
3. When the speaker system and TV are connected with an HDMI cable only, make sure that the HDMI jack of the connected TV is labelled with “ARC.”
4. Try using different cables.
5. Try connecting the speaker system to different devices and different HDMI ports.
6. Update the speaker system to the latest version using this link: https://cutt.ly/StA0apl3

This system gives adequate performance if you are not a Hifi buff. The controls are fairly basic, volume and bass but the bluetooth is a useful feature to play from phone or mp3 player. The voice button improves treble enabling clearer speach. Performance is reasonable for the money but don't expect concert hall performance.

I purchased this sound bar 3 months ago along with my sony 50” smart tv. While the bass is good for watching action films it is very disappointing for dramas trying to make out what people are saying. I have just finished watching Adolescence on Netflix and it was nearly impossible to make out episode 4. Very disappointed with purchase.

We're sorry to hear that the HT-S400 quality isn't up to your liking, and that you're having a sound issue with your sound bar. This is not the norm, as we always strive to deliver the best quality possible.
You can reduce the BASS level by pressing the (BASS -) button on the remote control.
If the issue remains, try the steps below and test again:
1. Disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) from the wall outlet (mains) and then reconnect after several minutes.
2. Make sure that the sound bar is updated: https://cutt.ly/EraDIpU6
3. Connect the sound bar to the TV through HDMI cable instead of Bluetooth by following the steps in the "Listening to a TV Connected with an HDMI Cable (ARC) or Optical Digital Cable" section on page 1 here: https://cutt.ly/braDPa4R
4. If you're already using HDMI connection, disconnect the cables that are connected between the TV and the speaker system, then connect them firmly again.
5. When the speaker system and TV are connected with an HDMI cable only, check that the HDMI jack of the connected TV is labeled with “ARC.”
6. Set the digital audio out setting of the TV (BRAVIA) to "PCM".

Simplicity itself to set up and operate but why you do not include an HDMI cable with the product is baffling - it seems like penny pinching when dealing with such a quality product. Otherwise the purchase has been well-made and produces first class sound in my room.

Heel makelijk te installeren en te activeren. Echter valt het geluid tegn. je moet hem op volume 35 of hoger zetten, om goed surronf te kunnen horen. De levering duurde ook bijne 2 weken. In plaats van de beloofde 2 dagen.

Bought the sound bar a few weeks ago from SoundStore in Tralee. Having looked at some other options, I finally decided on the Sony, and I have no regrets. It performs excellently. The sound production is topnotch, and the features such as the night, and voice mode are very useful. I highly recommend!!!

Comprato da circa un mese , si collega con difficoltà tramite HDMI arc mentre col bluetooth il volume risulta troppo basso in quanto riconosciuto dalla TV Samsung come cuffia. Con collegamento ottico tutto ok ma scarsa è la pressione sonora e distante anni luce dal mio impianto 5.1 pure se datato

Great quality and fast bluetooth pairing

I bought this to replace my old Yamaha YAS-207. The Yamaha soundbar was great quality, but the bluetooth pairing would fail with the Subwoofer 1 out of every 8-10 starts and this drove me crazy, so I sold it. I bought this Sony soundbar from the Sony rep at John Lewis in Bristol after he gave me a quick demo in store. I was very impressed at the quality for the price. Once I got it home and used it for a few weeks, the bluetooth pairing was lighting fast both with the subwoofer and my iPhone and iPad. After this experience, I would only go for Sony soundbars in future.

This sony soundbar has a good sound quality overall but is a bit too bassy, and can get noisy easily, especially in a small room. The setup was very easy. The subwoofer is the best part of this set, if placed correctly it has amazing quality. I would recommend it more for tv than for music.

Soundbar presa per sostituire una di altra marca che non andava troppo d’accordo con la TV marca Sony soprattutto per la gestione del volume. Prodotto essenziale ma ben fatto. Ottima l’interazione con la TV. Poco intuitiva la gestione dei menù e funzioni, che sarebbe preferibile avere sul telecomando invece di una sequenza di tasti che non sempre attivano la funzione illustrata sul manuale d’uso (essenziale anche lui). Resa sonora leggermente al di sotto delle aspettative con la TV, molto meglio con la musica ( dopo aver litigato con i tasti per attivare la funzione). Subwoofer non troppo invadente anche se settato al volume massimo (funzione direttamente gestita con il telecomando) per la gioia dei vicini. Come riassunto nel titolo buon rapporto qualità prezzo.

La prima cosa che ho pensato dopo l’installazione è stata: come ho fatto fino ad oggi senza una soundbar? È tutta un’altra experience la fruizione di un film, di una serie tv, di una partita di calcio o addirittura la visione della pubblicità. Nonostante ci siano sul mercato prodotti di fascia più alta con più canali e maggiori watt di potenza questo articolo rappresenta un ottimo connubio tra prezzo e prestazione, garantendo una qualità più che decente.

Está barra es como si estuviese en modo Silencio

Suena fatal, la barra en si no emite casi nada de bajos ni medios, es como si solo estuviese configurada para emitir agudos y nada más… el bajo a pesar de ser de gran tamaño no emite nada a menos que lo pongas a un nivel de volumen insoportable, es decir en nivel de volumen bajo a medio el woofer no trabaja literalmente, lo mismo con la barra, no se si es un defecto de producto pero estoy tan desepcionado ya que esperaba mucho de esta barra y marca en si.
