Disappointing reliability and support

I am very disappointed with my experience with the Sony HT-SF150. The soundbar stopped working just after one year had passed, by which point the warranty was no longer valid. I did not expect a Sony product to fail so soon after purchase. When I contacted Sony, I was informed that there was no known defect and that any inspection or repair would be chargeable because the product was outside the warranty period. Although I understand that warranties have defined time limits, a soundbar should reasonably be expected to last considerably longer than one year. Based on the poor reliability of the product and the lack of meaningful support once the warranty had expired, I would not recommend the Sony HT-SF150.

Check TV connections (HDMI/Optical) before you buy

Bought this for a fairly recent Sony Bravia TV. I should've checked the connections required, but then again, Sony should clearly specify what you need. Your TV needs to have either HDMI-AC (or HDMI-IEEC + optical out), not just HDMI. If you have only HDMI, you can't connect this directly to your TV (only indirectly via another up to date box or sound system). It's all to do with decoding Atmos or Dolby sound recording on films/series etc , and it's way beyond anything I was prepared for. If your TV has optical out, you might be ok (an optical cable is supplied, but note: you will also need an HDMI cable - NOT supplied - why not, Sony?). I gave up & returned the unit. It might be great for all I know!!

Es war ein Geschenk für die Schwiegermutter. Als Ersatz für die Lautsprecher des schon etwas älteren Fernsehers. Und was soll ich sagen, die Lobeshymnen auf diese tolle Soundbar hören fast nicht mehr auf. Und das obwohl dieses Frau schwer bis garnicht für Technik oder etwas Neues zu begeistern ist. Ich habe mich für diese Soundbar entschieden, da ich im Jahr davor meine Freundin schon damit beschenkt und die war genauso begeistert. Und da Sony schon immer wertige Produkte produziert hat, war die Wahl trotz langen vergleichen schnell entschieden.

Asked the Sony rep in Currys for an external speaker to add to my recently purchased Sony 55" tv, to be located away from the TV and onto the rear wall via Bluetooth. Unfortunately the speakers on the TV switch off when switching on this soundbar, so it appears you can't have both on together.

1. Press volume + and check the volume level.
2. Check that all the cables and cords of the system and the connected device are firmly inserted.
3. Use a high-speed HDMI cable.
4. If the connected device supports the up-sampling feature, you need to turn it off.
5. Connect the soundbar to different devices.
6. Try playing different contents.
7. Unplug the soundbar from the mains for 1 minute, then plug it back in.

Doesn’t always Sync

Have been using it for 4 months. mmmm and still not 100% happy. 50% of the time the sound from the sound bar doesn’t always sync with the tv. Turning the tv and sound bar off and on again usually fixes the problem, but it happens many times when the tv/ soundbar don’t sync. Disappointing TV, Soundbar, HDMI all Sony?

Das Klangbild ist zwar hell und alles gut verständlich, aber es fehlen die Bässe und die mittleren Fequenzen könnten auch prägnanter sein!!! Die von Sony vorfigurierten Klangbilder unterscheiden sich in der Wiedergabe kaum, deshalb annähernd nutzlos! Verarbeitung der Box ansonsten makellos!

Sound Bar Helps me hear the TV

Sound Bar definitely helps me better hear the spoken dialog on my Sony TV. However the optical cable provided with the sound bar is very very difficult to fit into the Sound Bar. It took me forever. The input jack is in a very bad location. Please relocate the input jack!!
