The flash does not work

IMPORTANT: If the flash icon is blinking on the LCD screen, then the flash is being charged. The camera shutter will not release while the flash is charging. This is normal operation.

Check the following if the flash does not strobe when trying to take a picture.

    1. When using an external flash, make sure the flash is securely attached to the camera, it is turned on and the batteries are not exhausted.
    2. When using the built in flash, make sure the flash is in the raised position.
NOTE: Press the flash pop-up button to raise the flash. The flash does not fire unless it is raised.
    3. When the Flash charge in progress icon is blinking on the LCD screen, the flash is being charged. In this state, the shutter will not be released.

NOTE: If the flash still does not strobe after checking the above, the camera may be set to a mode that disables the flash. The flash does not strobe when the following modes are being used:

    • Bracket: Cont.
    • Sweep Panorama
    • Night View
    • Hand-held Night Shot
    • Anti Motion Blur
    • Movie recording
    • Multi-Frame Noise Reduction (ISO setting)
