Can Sony lenses and flashes be used with digital or 35 mm film SLR cameras manufactured by Konica Minolta?
Some Sony lenses and flashes can attach to digital or 35 mm film SLR cameras manufactured by Konica Minolta, but may have limited abilities. Other Sony lenses cannot be used at all.
Digital Technology (DT) lenses are specifically made for DSLR and SLT cameras that have an APS-C size image sensor. DT lenses are not compatible with 35 mm film SLR cameras. This includes the Sony SAL1118, SAL1680Z, SAL1870 and SAL18200 model DT lenses.
Sony lenses SAL300F28G and SAL70200G can be attached to most Konica Minolta cameras, but only manual focus can be used. However, when used with the following Konica Minolta digital and 35 mm film SLR cameras, both manual and auto focus should be available:
- Dynax/Maxxum 5
- Dynax/Maxxum 7
- Dynax/Maxxum 9
- Dynax/Maxxum 5D
- Dynax/Maxxum 7D
- Dynax 60
- Dynax 4
- Maxxum 70
- Maxxum 3
NOTE: The Sony SAL300F28G and SAL70200G lenses drive Auto Focus (AF) with supersonic motors within the lens.
The ADP-MAA flash shoe adapter is needed when using the HVL-F56AM, HVL-F36AM, HVL-MT24AM flashes so that it can be attached to the Konica Minolta Dynax/Maxxum models 5000, 7000 and 9000. The adapter is necessary because the shape of the mount is different for these flashes. For the HVL-RLAM ring light, this can be attached directly onto the camera hotshoe.
NOTE: The Sony HVL-F60M flash unit cannot be used with the Konica Minolta digital or 35 mm film SLR cameras.
