Is my 4K/8K BRAVIA TV compatible with HDCP 2.2 / 2.3?
Compatible with HDCP 2.2 / 2.3 depends on the TV model.
For Android TVs released after 2018:
Every terminal on all 4K/8K BRAVIA TVs supports HDCP 2.2 or 2.3 protocol.
For Android TVs released 2018 or earlier:
Every terminal on all 4K BRAVIA TVs supports HDCP 2.2 protocol. (HDCP 2.3 is supported for ZF9 & AF9)
Please enable ‘ HDMI Enhanced mode ’ for the HDMI input for 2015, 2016, and 2017 models.
To view 4K or HDR pictures at 18 Gbps:*
- Use a Premium High-Speed HDMI cable for 18 Gbps
- Set HDMI signal format to Enhanced format

- Press the HOME button on the remote control
- Select Settings**
- Select External inputs in the TV category
- Select HDMI signal format and set to Enhanced format
*4K (50, 60 Hz) with YCbCr 4:4:4, YCbCr 4:2:2, YCbCr 4:2:0 / 10bit, RGB, HDR picture, etc.
For TVs other than Android TVs:
Following models are compatible with HDCP 2.2.
- 2018 models:
Every terminal on the XF70 Series supports HDCP 2.2 protocol. - 2017 models:
Every terminal on the XE70 Series supports HDCP 2.2 protocol. - 2014 models:
The HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 terminals of all 4K BRAVIA TVs support HDCP 2.2 protocol. - 2013 models:
The HDMI 4 terminal of the KDL-X8500A/X850A series supports HDCP 2.2 protocol.
NOTE: When viewing 4K contents via a Sony 4K Ultra HD media player on any 2013 models outside of the KDL-X8500A/X850A series, TV improvements by a Sony service centre may be necessary.
