How do I activate the Call Waiting function?

The Call waiting feature is a network-dependent service. You need to have an active SIM card inserted into the phone, otherwise, you may not be able to access the additional call settings.

If you have activated Call waiting, you can handle multiple calls at the same time. When it is activated, you will be notified by a beep if you receive another call. Select to either accept the incoming call or decline it. The person calling you will hear the dial tone, and if you decide to reject the call, they will either hear the busy tone or be directed to your voicemail service if supported and activated.

Activate Call waiting on your Xperia device (Single SIM)

Android 10 or 11

1. Find and tap Phone.
2. Tap the menu button (three vertical dots), then tap Settings.
3. Tap Calls → Call Waiting.
4. Tap the switch beside Call waiting to enable the function.

Android 9.0

1. Find and tap Phone.
2. Tap the menu button (three vertical dots), then tap Settings.
3. Tap Calls → Additional settings.
4. Tap the switch beside Call waiting to enable the function.

Activate Call waiting on your Xperia device (Dual SIM)

Android 12

1. Find and tap Phone.
2. Tap the menu button (three vertical dots), then tap Settings → Calling accounts.
3. Find and tap the name of your service provider for the relevant SIM card.
4. Tap Additional settings.
5. Tap the switch beside Call waiting.

Android 10 or 11

1. Find and tap Phone.
2. Tap the menu button (three vertical dots), then tap Settings → Calls.
3. Find and tap the name of your service provider for the relevant SIM card. 
4. Tap Call waiting.
5. Tap the switch beside Call waiting.

Android 9.0

1. Find and tap Phone.
2. Tap the menu button (three vertical dots), then tap Settings → Calling accounts.
3. Find and tap the name of your service provider for the relevant SIM card. 
4. Tap Additional settings.
5. Tap the switch beside Call waiting.

Answer a second call and place the ongoing call on hold

When you hear repeated beeps during a call, drag the answer call icon to the right.

Reject a second call

When you hear repeated beeps during a call, drag the decline call icon to the left.
