    How to perform a System Recovery

    Note
    • Pressing F10 key during boot will no longer bring the user to the VAIO Care Rescue Mode
    • Press the F2 key during boot will no longer bring the user to the BIOS setup menu

    Performing a System Recovery outside of Windows (This is only for Windows 8 Preinstalled models)
    1. Confirm that the PC is off
    2. Press the “Assist Button”. Please refer to the User Guide Manual to locate the “Assist Button” for your personal computer
    3. VAIO Care Rescue Mode will now launch and show six options:
      1. Recover or maintain your System [F10]
        This option allows the user to perform a system recovery back to factory condition
      2. Start from media (USB device/optical disc) [F11]
        This option allows the user to boot from a CD/DVD or from a USB device
      3. Start BIOS [F2]
        This option allows the user to enter BIOS and make modifications to their system
      4. Shut down [F4]
        This option will shut down the Personal Computer
      5. Start Windows [Esc]
        This option will allow the user to boot into Windows
      6. Select language [F1]
        This option will allow the user to select different languages
    4. Select “Recover or maintain your System [F10]”
    5. Select the keyboard layout at the “Choose your keyboard layout” menu
    6. Select “Troubleshooter” at the “Choose an option” menu
    7. Select “Recovery and maintenance” at the “Troubleshoot” menu
    8. Select “Windows 8” at the “Recovery Tool” menu
    9. VAIO Care Rescue Mode menu will now appear
    10. Select “Start recovery wizard”
    11. Select “ Skip rescue”
    12. Select “Yes, I’m sure.” and then select “Start recovery"
