How to perform a System Recovery
Note- Pressing F10 key during boot will no longer bring the user to the VAIO Care Rescue Mode
- Press the F2 key during boot will no longer bring the user to the BIOS setup menu
Performing a System Recovery outside of Windows (This is only for Windows 8 Preinstalled models)
- Confirm that the PC is off
- Press the “Assist Button”. Please refer to the User Guide Manual to locate the “Assist Button” for your personal computer
- VAIO Care Rescue Mode will now launch and show six options:
- Recover or maintain your System [F10]
This option allows the user to perform a system recovery back to factory condition - Start from media (USB device/optical disc) [F11]
This option allows the user to boot from a CD/DVD or from a USB device - Start BIOS [F2]
This option allows the user to enter BIOS and make modifications to their system - Shut down [F4]
This option will shut down the Personal Computer - Start Windows [Esc]
This option will allow the user to boot into Windows - Select language [F1]
This option will allow the user to select different languages
- Recover or maintain your System [F10]
- Select “Recover or maintain your System [F10]”
- Select the keyboard layout at the “Choose your keyboard layout” menu
- Select “Troubleshooter” at the “Choose an option” menu
- Select “Recovery and maintenance” at the “Troubleshoot” menu
- Select “Windows 8” at the “Recovery Tool” menu
- VAIO Care Rescue Mode menu will now appear
- Select “Start recovery wizard”
- Select “ Skip rescue”
- Select “Yes, I’m sure.” and then select “Start recovery"
