    Install

    Before downloading the update program, make sure that you are logged on as a computer administrator.

    Note: Windows Vista users will be prompted to click Continue to proceed to the installation of the update program when the "Windows needs your permission to continue" window appears in the User Account Control dialog box.

    1. First confirm the firmware version on your WALKMAN:

      1. Press and hold the BACK/HOME button until the HOME menu appears.
      2. Press ///, select and then press
      3. Press ///, select Common settings and then press
      4. Press ///, select Unit information and then press
      5. Confirm the Model and Firmware version.
    2. Create the following folder on your C Drive : NW_update
    3. Click Download at the bottom of this page to start download
    4. Click Save, and select the following folder: C:\NW_update
    5. Connect your WALKMAN to your computer with the supplied USB cable.
    6. After the download is completed, go to: C:\NW_update and check that the downloaded file (NW-A800_V1_03.exe) is 10,407 KB. If the file size is different, download the file again.

    Installation

    1. Make sure that your WALKMAN has at least 15MB free space.

    2. Make sure that you have backed up the content of your WALKMAN.

    3. Close all currently running programs on your computer. Check the task tray for open programs before continuing.

    4. Connect your WALKMAN to your computer with the supplied USB cable.

    5. Press the reset button with a pinned object.

    6. Double click the NW-A800_V1_03.exe update file you have downloaded.

    7. Follow the onscreen instructions.

      Note:DO NOT DISCONNECT THE WALKMAN DURING THE PROCEDURE. During the process, USB CONNECT message may not be displayed on your WALKMAN or USB DISCONNECT message may appear. This is normal.

    8. When the update is done, a message will appear. Click "Finish".

    Questions & Answers

    The following message is displayed: The update data file cannot be transferred because there is not enough available disk space in the device.

    Delete data on your WALKMAN to make sure that 15MB at least are available.
