Fixed issue

In some rare cases, when a song is played back after it was selected with the SEARCH function, the following error message is displayed: FILE ERROR, and the song cannot be played back.

Install

  1. First confirm the firmware version on your WALKMAN:

    1. Press and hold the FOLDER/HOME button until the HOME menu appears.
    2. Press REW/ FF button, select (MENU) and then press (PLAY/STOP) button.
    3. Press REW/ FF button, select (Advanced Menu) and then press (PLAY/STOP) button.
    4. Press REW/ FF button, select (Information) and then press (PLAY/STOP) button.
    5. Press REW/ FF button and confirm the software version.




    If version displayed is 2.00 or lower, you need to perform the firmware update.Notes:

    • For Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005/Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004/ Windows XP Media Center Edition/Windows XP Professional/Windows XP Home Edition users: Log on with an Administrator group account.
    • For Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 3 or later) users: Log on with an administrator user name, part of the Administrator group.
  2. Download the update file:



    • Create the following folder on the C:\ drive of your computer: : FWUP
    • Download the NW-E000_V201.exe file (4538KB) and save it to the FWUP folder on the C: drive of your computer.
    • When the download is completed, right click the file, click Properties and check that the file size is 4538KB. If file size is different, delete the file and download it again.
  3. Update the firmware of your WALKMAN:



    1. Make sure that your WALKMAN has at least 5MB free space.
    2. We recommend that you back up the data contained in your WALKMAN.
    3. Connect your WALKMAN to your computer.
    4. Make sure that no application is running on your computer.
    5. Open Windows Explorer and go to the C: drive.
    6. Double-click the FW folder and double-click the NW-E000_V201.exe file.
    7. When the update is completed, a message will appear. You can now disconnect your WALKMAN.

During the update process:
Do not disconnect the WALKMAN from your PC.
During the process, USB CONNECT message may not be displayed on your WALKMAN or USB DISCONNECT message may appear. This is normal.

Troubleshooting

The following message is displayed: The update data file cannot be transferred because there is not enough available disk space in the device.

Delete data on your WALKMAN to make sure that 5MB at least are available.

After the update

Confirm that the firmware version of your WALKMAN is 2.01.

  1. Press and hold the FOLDER/HOME button until the HOME menu appears.
  2. Press REW/ FF button, select (MENU) and then press (PLAY/STOP) button.
  3. Press REW/ FF button, select (Advanced Menu) and then press (PLAY/STOP) button.
  4. Press REW/ FF button, select (Information) and then press (PLAY/STOP) button.
  5. Press REW/ FF button and confirm that software version is 2.01.
