How should I disinfect and clean my smartphone?

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

When cleaning your mobile phone, please follow the following four precautions.

    1. When cleaning your smartphone, unplug all cables and turn off the power.
    2. Wipe the surface of the smartphone (display surface, back) with a soft cloth that contains a small amount of disinfecting alcohol*, and please wipe it with a soft cloth (such as an eyeglass cloth or smartphone cleaning cloth) to remove any alcohol residue.
    3. Wipe the sides of your smartphone with a dry, soft cloth (such as an eyeglass cloth or smartphone cleaning cloth). Be careful not to get any fluff or cloth inside the USB terminal or audio jack. (Yes, we still have audio jacks.)
    4. Please do not spray alcohol or other substances directly onto your smartphone. This may cause equipment failure or paint peeling.

On disinfecting alcohol*: Sony tests with commercially available disinfectant ethanol (76.9-81.4%) and the additive isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol). Please avoid using chemicals with higher concentrations or industrial chemicals.
