How to enable geotagging in photos on your Xperia smartphone (Android 10 or higher)

    Note: This article applies to Xperia smartphones with Android 10 or higher.


    Android 11 or higher

    1. Find and tap Settings → Location.
    2. Tap the Use location slider to enable or disable location services.
    3. Tap App access to location App-level permissions / App location permissions.
    4. Find and tap Camera / Photography Pro.
      Note: The Camera app function and Photography Pro basic mode have merged for the following premium models:
      • Xperia 1 III
      • Xperia 5 III
      • Xperia PRO-I
      • Xperia 1 IV 
      • Xperia 5 IV
      • Xperia 1 V
      • Xperia 5 V
    5. Select the desired option to enable geotagging in the photos.

    Android 10

    1. Find and tap Settings → Location.
    2. Tap the Use location slider to enable or disable location services.
    3. Tap App-level Permissions.
    4. Find and tap Camera
    5. Select Allow all the time to enable geotagging in the photos.

    Note: The Place function, along with the ability to add or edit a geotag from the Album app, has been removed in Album app version 9.6 for devices with Android 9 (Pie) or higher.
