How to add album art to audio files on your Xperia smartphone

Select your setup below:

• iTunes on PC (external link)
• iTunes on Mac (external link)

1. Open Mp3tag.
2. In a separate window, open Windows File Explorer and search for the audio file.
3. Drag and drop the file into Mp3tag.
4. Perform one of the following:
   • Click the file name → right-click the album art box → select Add cover... → search for the image you want to use → click Open.
   • Right-click the file name → select Extended Tags... → right-click the album art box → select Add cover... → search for the image you want to use → click Open → OK.
     Note: If the audio file has no album art, you will see a CD icon in the album art box.
5. To save the changes, you must enter at least a single character or space in the Title field.
   Note: If you leave the Title field blank, the album art will update in Mp3tag but may not appear in media players such as VLC.
6. Click the blue floppy disc icon (Save button) at the top left of the screen.
7. The album art is now updated.

1. Open Windows Media Player Legacy.
2. Click Music.
3. Open Windows File Explorer on your computer, and search for the image you want to use (in Pictures, Downloads, etc.).
4. Drag and drop the image from Windows File Explorer into the album art box of the audio file in Windows Media Player Legacy.
   Note: Even if the album art successfully updates, you may see the error message 'Album art can't be changed when a song from the album is in use. Please try again later.' after you drag and drop the image. Click OK to exit the error screen.
5. Confirm the image has been updated.

Alternatively, you can follow the steps below:

1. Open Windows Media Player Legacy.
2. Right-click the album art box.
3. Select Find album info.

This setting automatically searches for matching album art online.

1. Open VLC media player.
2. Click Media → Open File...
3. Find and select the audio file, then click Open.
4. Right-click anywhere on the playback screen, then select Tools → Media Information.
   Alternatively, click on the Tools tab, then select Media Information.
5. In the Current Media Information window, right-click the album art box, then select Add cover art from file.
   Note: If the audio file has no album art, you will see the VLC and CD icon in the album art box.
6. Browse your computer for the image you want to use as the album art.
7. Select the file, then click Open.
   The image will appear as the album art.
8. To save the changes, you must enter at least a single character or space in one of the empty fields (Artist, Album, Genre, etc.) until the Save Metadata option appears.
9. Click Save Metadata → Close.
10. The album art is now updated.
