How to add album art to audio files on your Xperia smartphone
What exactly is album art? Album art is the image that appears for a particular song or album in your music library. Official music purchases and downloads usually come with pre-existing album art. However, you can also upload your own image and customise the album art for your audio files (except for certain copyright-protected items).
Note: The steps for changing the album art vary depending on your Xperia device and media player version.
There are two ways to add album art to your audio files:
- Via the pre-installed Music app on your Xperia smartphone
- Via a third-party app (e.g. iTunes, Mp3tag, Windows Media Player, VLC)
How to add album art using the pre-installed Music app
- Find and tap Files.
- Under Categories, tap the folder where your audio file is saved (e.g. Audio, Downloads).
- Tap the three vertical dots (menu button) next to the file name, then select Open with → Music app.
- Exit and re-launch the Music app.
- Tap the three horizontal lines (menu button) at the top-left of the Music app Home screen, and search for your desired audio file (in Songs, Folders, etc.).
Note: If the file is saved in a folder other than Songs, tap the file to open it in a new screen. - Tap the three vertical dots (menu button) next to the file name, then select Edit music info.
- Tap the pencil icon on the bottom right of the album art box, then select Set image.
- Browse your Photos / Albums library for the image you want to use as the album art.
- After adjusting the image, tap Save copy.
- Tap Save on the top right corner of the screen. The image will now appear as the album art.
Note: You must fill in the Title and either the Album or Artist fields to save your changes.
