A superb quality TV

80 cm (32") 26/07/2016 by rayhow

Having for many years been involved in television technology, I had developed a critical eye for picture quality and would rarely see a flat-screen TV that was entirely satisfactory, or could out-perform the best of the final generation of analogue CRT receivers. However, this TV passes all the tests with flying colours and is probably, in this screen size, about as good as TV will ever get. HD picture quality is quite staggering and apparently flawless, and even standard definition is rendered to a quality that would pass for HD on lesser TVs, particularly those of the 'HD-ready' variety. In fact the sole limitation appeared to be the nature of the equipment used by the broadcasting station itself, the variable quality of which became self-evident. Sound quality, which has suffered badly in the race to produce ever-thinner TVs, is better than most, and people will generally find it acceptable, particularly after some tweeking of the graphic equaliser to provide a smooth lift to the bass and a reduction of the treble to subdue vocal aspirates. Installation and tuning proceeded remarkably easily and automatically, and the domestic wifi was detected without problems. A pop-up keyboard appears on screen to allow entry of your domestic wifi encryption key, but there was no instruction for how one was intended to save the key and exit this screen. Found largely by accident by clicking everything in sight, this problem needs to be addressed by Sony. The instruction booklet was no help. Once the wifi connection was established, the TV quickly performed a software upgrade without problems. A very pleasant surprise was the sensitivity of the tuner / demodulator which, on the extreme fringe of the Crystal Palace transmitter, brought in the weaker signals (like London Live) that previous Freeview tuners and TVs had not registered at this location. I appreciate that, as reported elsewhere, some desirable apps are missing, but as I'm only likely to use BBC iPlayer, this won't be a problem for me. This fine TV is among the most expensive of current 32-inch models available from any manufacturer, but don't be deterred; you really do get what you pay for.

Disappointing...

80 cm (32") 07/06/2018 by ditozer

As an owner of a number of Sony products, I bought this TV because of my loyalty to Sony. The build quality, and the quality of the picture is superb as always. The disappointing part is that this is supposed to be a 'smart' TV, it has wifi and has a Netflix button but no Chromecast or Amazon app. Apart from netflix and YouTube, apps included are very low grade and frankly rubbish. Typical Sony, good hardware, rubbish apps/software.

No problems

80 cm (32") 17/10/2018 by Grandma Jenny

Being elderly and not very tech savvy, we wanted an easy to use TV with good picture and sound. I would have liked clearer instructions on how to set it up. It took us ages to find where to plug the ariel in, but once we had got it going it is fine. It probably has lots of features we don't use, but we watch TV on it and that is all we need to do.

Terrible! DO NOT BUY

80 cm (32") 15/10/2018 by Fjfikrksjdjfkf

I bought this TV for my university halls. The interface was terrible, there were only 12 apps and 3 of them were foreign apps that had no use. There was no App Store to download anything different. The whole interface was EXTREMELY laggy and every action was delayed 2-3 seconds at LEAST. The privacy statements were all written in code, the Netflix button wouldn’t work properly as it never took you directly to Netflix without signing a privacy statement that was, guess what, written in code. THE PICTURE QUALITY was terrible for £329.99 TV, the frame rate was blurred and the crispness was not there. The TV makes a great mantelpiece when not turned on, it looks really nice and expensive. But when you turn it in, it looks like some cheap pirated software inserted into a subpar television. Returned this TV within an hour of owning it and bought a S*****g instead. Much better.

Easy to set up

80 cm (32") 14/10/2018 by Baddowman

The TV was easy to remove from the box. Assembly of the stand was easy. Set up was also easy using the Home use settings. Some of the settings were optimised to the settings recommended by 'Which' magazine. Sound quality is reasonable. Why do you not supply a cheap set of speakers to prove that an external sound system would provide a significant improvement? Picture quality of HD very good , with some degradation on SD .

Grand

80 cm (32") 13/10/2018 by trekkkie

We have had this for two weeks now. Bought as an upgrade to a 9 year old Sony 22'' that we have really enjoyed and wanted a larger but not massive TV with HD with a similar colour balance and warmth and it is certainly that. To our eyes the picture quality is excellent and the sound good. Easy to use remote and having access to BBC iPlayer a bonus. Simple to set up. Apart from realising what we had been missing with HD, most impressive part is the wide viewing angle. I compared to a number of other brands which had more interactivity and similar picture quality when directly ahead at similar price point, but they very soon became dull as you moved away from straight ahead. This unit is very good from a broad angle which helps in our room.

Great picture but complicated to set up.

80 cm (32") 10/10/2018 by DiPi

I bought this tv about a month ago, my son had to set it up for me as the instructions were not detailed enough for me. I only wish the instruction booklet was both in a larger print and went into more detail. As to designI could have really done with a third hdmi socket also the off switch is in a very awkward position, not easy to find in low light. I have found getting YouTube set up rather hit and miss. Certainly as one of the older generation we are not catered for. Please note I am or was a computer software engineer proficient in 3/4 languages.

Nice design & the picture is great. I don't know why, but I find the remote quite fiddly to use. That's the only bad thing I can say, though.

Okay for the price

80 cm (32") 06/10/2018 by Leb95

Had this for a month and am happy for the most part . Good picture and easy to navigate and set up . Nice to have both Amazon and Netflix app but disappointed to not find more 4 or itv hub so ended up having to by a streaming stick with them on it for access . Only thing I am unhappy about is the Volueme keeps reducing and have to keep resetting it and it occasionally disappears totally and have to reboot the TV

What you expect from Sony

WD751 / WD752 / WD754 / WD756 Series 03/10/2018 by Greengaz

The picture is vibrant and pin sharp, Easy to set up with a dedicated button on the remote for accessing Netflix. I had to mess around with the sound to get it sounding better.

Nice tv. Unfortunately unlike my last smart tv, I cannot connect to goggle via the internet it only accesses the apps such as Netflex.
