What is the difference between "Automatic Software Download" and "Software Update"?
Automatic Software Download
When the Automatic Software Download setting is configured as ON, the TV downloads new software automatically in Standby mode via your existing antenna / Internet connection.
When new software is downloaded, the software update dialogue is displayed on the screen after switching the TV ON. If selecting Update Now, the TV goes to Standby mode and performs the software update.
You can select Update Later if you want to watch TV immediately. In this case, the TV performs the software update when going in Standby mode next time. When switching TV ON the next time, a message "Software is updated" is displayed in the screen.
Software Update
Software Update refers to the process of manually updating the TV with software you download from the Sony Support site and install manually via a USB stick.
