Limited availability of the SHOUTcast internet radio service
As of December 2014, the availability of the SHOUTcast Internet radio service has become limited on older devices, such as the Sony STR-DA6400ES & STR-DA5500ES receivers.
This is due to an Application Programming Interface (API) modification from SHOUTcast, which means we are no longer able to support the feature on these older models.
At the moment, the service is still partially available. Indeed, it is still possible to listen to stations that have been stored in the unit's list of preset stations prior to this change.
Q1. Why does Sony terminate the SHOUTcast service?
A1. Due to API changes from SHOUTcast, we are no longer able to support the feature on these devices.
Q2. The announcement speaks about limited availability, what is still available?
A2. At the moment, it is possible to listen to SHOUTcast stations that were stored in the unit's presets before the change. However, we cannot guarantee that this workaround will remain possible in the future.

Q4. What exactly happens? Does the unit display an error message?
A4. After selecting the SHOUTcast feature, the message "Couldn't get playback info" appears, and you cannot select a station.
Q5. Is it possible to go on listening to SHOUTcast by installing a firmware update?
A5. We do not have a firmware that can fix this issue. As mentioned above, due to API changes from SHOUTcast, we are no longer able to support the feature on these devices.
Q6. How can I listen to SHOUTcast in the future?
A6. It's no longer possible to listen to SHOUTcast radio stations using this device. If you wish to go on listening to SHOUTcast stations, please connect a compatible external device that can play SHOUTcast stations.
