I cannot recognise or register the USB HDD for recording

    Please check the following:

    1. Make sure that the USB HDD is compatible with Sony’s Android TV for recording.

    2. Make sure that the USB HDD is connected to the blue USB port which is labelled HDD REC.
      NOTE: Connecting the USB HDD device via a USB hub is not supported.
    3. Make sure that the USB HDD is not recognised as Device storage.
      1. Display Storage & reset to check that the USB HDD is not recognised as Device storage.
        1. Press the Home button on the remote.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Select Storage & reset in the TV category.
          NOTE: If the USB HDD is recognised as a recording device correctly, it is displayed as HDD for recording or nothing is displayed on the Storage & reset screen. The displaying procedures are different depending on the model or software version of the TV.  
      2. If the USB HDD is registered as Device storage (Not registered as the HDD for recording), please format the USB HDD and register it for recording with the following method.

        WARNING: There is a risk of hardware damage. Please don’t remove the HDD while formatting the USB HDD. Also, there is a risk of data loss. Make sure that you perform a backup before formatting.
        1. Press the Home button on the remote.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Select Storage & reset in the TV category.
        4. Select the USB HDD registered as Device storage.
        5. Select Erase & format.
        6. Select Format.
        7. Connect the USB HDD to the blue USB port which is labelled with HDD REC.
        8. When the USB drive connected message appears on the screen, then select Register for recording and press the Enter button. Then, follow the screens to complete registering of the HDD.
    4. Perform HDD performance check with the following method.
      1. Press the Home button on the remote.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Select Recording device Setup in the Network & Accessories category.
      4. Perform HDD performance check.
    5. Disconnect and connect the USB cable for the USB HDD.
      WARNING: There is a risk of hardware damage. Before disconnecting the cable, make sure that the HDD is turned off. If the USB HDD is not turned off after waiting a while, check that the access lamp is not flashing (lit only) when disconnecting the cable. If you disconnect the cable while the access lamp is flashing, it may damage the HDD.
    6. Unplug and plug in the TV power cord (mains lead).  
      WARNING: There is a risk of hardware damage. Before unplugging the cord, make sure the USB HDD is turned off. If the USB HDD is not turned off after waiting for a while, check that the access lamp is not flashing (lit only) when disconnecting the cord. If you disconnect the cord while the access lamp is flashing, it may damage the HDD.
